Mr. Berry has more than 35 years of experience as a senior executive in the soft drink distribution and automotive aftermarket distribution industries, including 20 years of experience working with private equity sponsors. From 1980 to 1984, Mr. Berry served as a Controller and Vice President of Finance at Dr. Pepper in one of the company’s bottling and distribution plants. In late 1984, Mr. Berry joined Interstate Tire Company as a Corporate Controller. While at Interstate Tire, Mr. Berry helped to lead the company’s expansion from five locations and $50 million in annual sales to 30 locations and $250 million in annual sales. During this time, Mr. Berry was promoted to CFO and ultimately helped facilitate the sale of Interstate Tire to Wingate Capital Partners in 1995. In 1998, Interstate Tire merged with the J. H. Heafner Company to form a $500 million regional tire distributor with 45 locations. In 1999, CharlesBank Capital Partners acquired the company, and Mr. Berry was promoted to CFO in 2001. That same year, the company changed its name to American Tire Distributors (“ATD”) to reflect its stated objective to become the first national tire distributor in the United States. As ATD grew from 2001 to 2003, Mr. Berry was promoted to COO, a role in which he served from 2003 until the beginning of 2009, at which point he was named CEO, a position he held until 2015. Today, ATD is the nation’s largest tire distributor, serving approximately 70,000 customers daily, with the largest selection of tire and tire-related products sold through more than 140 locations. Mr. Berry served on the board of directors for Soundcore’s portfolio company, PumpMan, LLC, and he also serves as an independent director on the board of 700 Valve Company, a portfolio company of Brown Brothers Harriman, as well as serving as a director on the North Carolina Aquarium Society, where he serves as Chairman of the Investment Committee.
